Broccolin travels to Lorca

By Broccolin in schools, Uncategorized No Comments

This week the Broccolin Project has travelled to Lorca to visit the Virgen de las Huertas school.  Lorca is a city that stands out as the third most important town in the Region of Murcia, after the City of Murcia and Cartagena.  It is also one of the regions of Spain which produces and exports the most broccoli. So to our Broccolin Project it has felt like home, in a landscape characterised by the intense green of the crop.

This population is not only known for its broccoli production but we also discovered a latent concern for the healthy eating of children. On our visit to the Virgen de las Huertas school, we were surprised to learn that they have contests during recess to see which class eats the most fruit. The winning class of that week is awarded with a different recess in a special area of the school where they will have complete freedom to play. We thought it was a great idea to encourage children to bring fruit for lunch, avoiding industrial pastries which are….

Broccolin visits Picaña town

By Broccolin in schools, Uncategorized No Comments

Today we visited a school in the Valencian Community for the first time; in this case it was the Ausias March school in Picaña, a municipality located in La Huerta, west of Valencia. The Broccolin Project has passed through the four classes in primary 3 and primary 4.

The younger children were very receptive, they loved touching the broccoli head, as many of them had never done so before and they fell in love with Brocolín, with its rosy cheeks and that big green hair. They also had fun with the story “The Adventures of Brocolín” and they loved that we gave each of them a copy and recipes so their moms and dads could cook broccoli for them at home.

Broccoli: a source of beauty

By Healthy eating, Uncategorized No Comments

Broccoli plays an important role in beauty. Using words that transport us to a famous advertising campaign, we can say that broccoli “cares for us on the inside and it shows on the outside”. This phrase doesn’t contain an empty promise, but perfectly sums up the message from Broccoli Passion that we want to share with anyone who is interested in looking after themselves.

Today, the culture of “body worship” prevails. This leads to the need to carefully select the foods that are part of our daily diet. We know that eating healthy affects the proper functioning of our body, and this way we enjoy a healthy appearance.

Broccoli is one of the most complete vegetables. In addition to being delicious, it is good for health and provides beauty: it has a large amount of Vitamin B and therefore adds shine to hair and increases keratin, which strengthens nails; in addition, a protein found in broccoli slows down the aging of the skin and promotes its regeneration in case of burns or skin cancer, according to scientists from the Center for Edaphology and Applied Biology of Segura (CEBAS), an entity dependent on the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Not to mention, it is…

By Tips for moms, Uncategorized No Comments

The imagination of children is wonderful and their ability to associate ideas is no less interesting. When they see broccoli on the plate, some kids just have fun with the idea that they are eating delicious little trees. Others, however, reject all green vegetables both actively and passively, which is a real headache for parents.

But one thing that is clear: its attractive shape makes broccoli one of the first vegetables that children recognize and remember.
